Wow… no posts for a couple of months? yah… it’s been a pretty active Summer. I may start adding much shorter posts to empty out my head, so many thoughts racing through my mind on a daily basis.
I started playing disc golf about 12 years ago (yah… sad I’m not much better). I had thrown frisbees earlier in life, I’ve always enjoyed hiking so I was attracted to disc golf pretty easily. It instantly became the catalyst for my weight loss.
I’ve always played tournaments in the Summer, they’re physically grueling. I’ve had a couple of tournaments over the years where I’ve had to stop playing due to heat exhaustion, and a few times I’m sure I was near to having a heat stroke. Most if not all, of my summer PDGA tournaments have never been that good. This Summer I’ve played one tournament, and that was at the very beginning of Summer. I played well and never looked back. I’m done playing PDGA tournaments in the heat.
As of this writing I’m in the top 30 of the AM60 Global Masters Disc Golf Ranking. My goal has always been to be in the top 50, so I’m doing pretty good with more than half the season over! I’m currently sitting at 27 which is pure awesome sauce. Even though I had some ups and downs earlier in the year, looking back I’ve had some decent rounds. 🙂
Health wise, not doing too bad. Blood pressure seems to be ok, hovering around 130s over 70. I’ve gained 15lbs over the Summer which I’m trying to lose before the weather cools down. lol.. My arrythmias are still roller coasting on/off. I’ll have several days with zero symptoms and then bam… a few days of non stop problems. Every since I had my hernia(s) surgery last year I’m getting these different types of arrythmia. A bit of pressure, slight pain, followed by a pause, a small thud and then back to normal rhythm. Still seems like PVCs which I’ve had my entire adult life, but a lot of my research is showing it could be related to the vagus nerve being stimulated. I don’t know, I’m in a Facebook group with other people who deal with arrythmia and my problems don’t seem to be as bad as most of them so I try not to hyper focus and just keep on keeping on. I mean… I’m not getting any kind of heart operation at my age, and I’m certainly not going to take any drugs that turn me into a zombie. Tired, lifeless, etc. lol..
Summer fun! Yah… it’s been a fun Summer. The wife and I have been experimenting with Airbnb and we’ve had a few short trips to lakes in Texas, they went well so we decided to rent out a nicer place in Florida for a week. We had a private pool, private fishing dock, and yah… it was fantastic as expected. We both agreed it was nice, but we wouldn’t want to live there. lol.. I’m trying to spend more time with my grandkids. The past few summers I’ve been spending more one on one time with them, trying to make some long lasting memories.

I took Wyatt (7) fishing at a local state park and the goal was to try to catch a record fish! Long story short… success! He ended up catching the record Carp junior angler fish. It’s not official yet as it takes a few weeks for everything to be verified. But I’m going to buy the little man a plaque with his photo holding the fish, plus he’s going to get a certificate from the state of Texas. These are things I really wish I could have done with my son, but I was too wrapped up in my self back then. ugh… I’ve already posted enough about that, but rest assured I’m not making the same mistakes with my grandchildren. 😉
Here’s a couple of recent videos of my grandson William and granddaughter Olive catching their first fish. 🙂 yah.. I absolutely live for this. 🙂
Due to the heat I’ve been only playing disc golf maybe 1-2 times a week. I’m looking forward to playing a few tournaments perhaps in late August or early September. My overall game is staying strong, but I need to get my putting back up to a decent level before I start playing competitively again.
Cars!! It’s wild…but I’ve NEVER been too concerned about what car I drive. I could care less as long as it gets me from point A to point B. But that’s all changed this year due to 2 of our vehicles are no longer working. lol.. Yah… I’ve always been a bit cheap when it comes to cars. But the wife and I just bought 2 new cars. After much research, we’re joining the Kia family and purchased a 2021 Forte and a 2026 Sportage EX. We decided on Kia due to my kids drive a Kia and have had great experiences with the cars plus Kia has one of the best warranties in the business. With the Sportage we also have a lifetime powertrain warranty from the dealership which was pretty nice. I confess I don’t know too much about cars, but a lifetime powertrain warranty seemed like an offer I couldn’t refuse. Hope it doesn’t come back to haunt me down the road. lol..
That’s it for now. I’m going to be posting more often, just some shorter posts as I brain dump. Still amazes me how many views my site gets. lol.. Maybe some day I’ll have some worth while content. 😉
