Charlie Kirk was assassinated today. While I may not have agreed with everything he said, I followed this young man’s journey the past few years. I had so much respect for his willingness to dialog and debate other people who did not share his point of views or beliefs.
I was in awe of his ability to motivate young people into learning more about our country and getting involved in making real change.
There is no doubt in my mind without his help, Republicans do not get the white house in 2025.
I immediately felt extremely sad (and eventually very….mad) when I heard he was shot. After viewing early video and finding out where he was shot, it was obvious he was not going to make it. This was clearly an assassination to silence a strong voice that was making a once in a generation change for the better. Not that his points of views and beliefs were making things better, but the idea of debate, communication, from both sides regardless your point of view, is what was making things better. Younger people were no longer afraid to discuss their ideas and beliefs publicly. It was ok to disagree and challenge each other to a discussion rather than a fight.
Regardless where this country ends up, as long as we’re talking and not fighting, there is real hope.
And for me personally, that’s what Charlie Kirk’s legacy will be. He motivated a younger generation to not just follow the main stream media, instead… do your own research, come to your own conclusions and ultimately have the courage to discuss those points of view publicly with your peers, friends, family, etc.
Today the nation marks a tragic loss with the assassination of Charlie Kirk, a passionate and polarizing voice who shaped youth political engagement in America. At 31, he was a force who built Turning Point USA from modest beginnings into a formidable movement. Always willing to confront hard questions, he championed conservative values with conviction and was known for his bold public debates, especially on college campuses.
Beyond the politics, he was a husband and father, someone who left behind young children, a family, and a community that believed deeply in his mission. While many disagreed with him, no one could deny his dedication or the impact he had on the conservative movement and American political life.
In this moment of grief, it is not just a loss for those who agreed with him, but for a country wrestling with what it means to live in a democracy where voices are heard, even when they are controversial. May this tragedy lead us toward greater peace, respect, and the responsibility we all hold to preserve civil dialogue.
My thoughts are with his family, friends, and all who believed in his cause. May he rest in peace.
