So I lost my own website around 10 years ago due to a plethora of reasons. I tried to get it back over the years but to no avail. The website was extremely active for a few years so the entity who bought it enjoyed all the inbound links from the flash games, game sites, software archive sites, etc. I’m sure as time went on the value of the domain name went down substantially. But still… year after year the owner would renew the domain name. I stopped checking over the years and when I started coding again I used a different developer name, not even mentioning my name. lol..

I lost ownership of the domain name around 2017. The new owners used the domain name as a landing page for all things casino, gambling, etc. Crazy…

So a few months back in January of this year I browsed the domain records for munsiegames.com and saw that it was once again up for renewal in April 2026. I assumed it would be renewed like it always has been for the last 10 years.

A week ago I remembered it was up for renewal so I wanted to see if it was renewed, I type in “munsiegames.com” and the GoDaddy auction page is shown! This means the domain name was allowed to expire and was automatically put into the GoDaddy Auction site. Starting bid to own the site was set at a default of 1.00. woo hoo! 🙂

So with the auction ending in less than a week now I read the details how the auction works and if no bids are entered the last owner of the domain has one final chance to claim back the domain name. If ANYONE places a bid on the domain name that means the previous owner cannot just reclaim it, they have to bid on it like anyone else interested. So I quickly placed the 1.00 min bet to guarantee the domain name has to go through the full bidding process.

A few days left, I’m the only bidder. Nice. Then with 2 days left someone else has placed a bid, increasing the price to 6.00. I’m like crap… really? Someone else wants my domain name again? I do have a nephew who programs as well, but he’s never really coded games.

So with less than 24 hours left, I raise the bid by 5.00, someone (or perhaps a GoDaddy auto bot? lol..) counters and the price is at 16.00 now. With a few hours left I make another bid and the price is at a hefty (lol) 21.00. I research domain auctions and find out it’s typical for prices to go up dramatically the last 5-10 min of an auction. So now I’m wondering if the price is going to go up the last 5 minutes of the auction./

So 5 min left… no counter bids…. 60, 59, 58.. no counter bids! 30 seconds, 20, 10,9,8… 3..2..1.. I won back the domain name! woo hoo!

So for the first time in 10 years I once again own munsiegames.com! 🙂

What am I going to do with it? lol.. I have no idea… but I’m thinking it would be a cool place to document every game I’ve coded from any platform over the years. Not sure if it will be a blog type page or just a page documenting every game I’ve ever coded. Maybe I’ll be able to use a plug in like Ruffle to play some of my own flash minigames on the site. I need to look into that and see how well it works. Groovy stuff happening! 🙂

Quick update on other things…

SwanSong project doing ok, sales are progressing. Can’t complain. Decided to make the mobile version free instead of paid. Currently finishing up adding an IAP (in app purchase) to unlock everything. Hoping to get that done very soon.

Haven’t played much disc golf the past month or so, looking to ramp that up with some big tournaments happening soon.

Fishing – dang… can never do enough fishing. My youtube channel hasn’t been updated for over a month. Need to get that going again.

Health – Ups and downs as usual. I’ll go a few days or so without any heart arrythmias and then bam… back in full force. But overall… can’t complain… I’m still here. 🙂
