View my first blog post: “And So It Begins”
While I enjoy several pastimes, hobbies, the following 4 passions clearly provided my life’s stepping stones and will be the primary subjects of my blog:
Music – Music came naturally to me via my Mother. She would encourage me to sing and play the piano at a very young age. We would sing duets & play the piano together. I had the natural ability to sing improvised harmony which would later go on to annoy my fellow Choir members through out school. In my teenage years I taught myself how to play the drums (wrongly I might add.. lol..) which would provide a plethora of memoires continuing to this very day.
Computer Programming – Becoming a computer programmer was the furthest thing from my mind as a young kid. I was supposed to be a rock star after all. lol… But sure enough, the cerebral orgasms that programming provided was apparently too much to resist.
I did an interview for AtariLegend.com back in 2004. jeesh, over 20 years ago? It’s a pretty good read if you’re interested in a bit of my programming history on the Atari 8 bit (limited) and the Atari ST.
Check out the interview here.
Fishing – As strong as this desire has been my entire life, it’s a bit disappointing to realize in my old age just how little time in my life I have actually spent fishing. In recent years I have being trying my best to rectify that. 😉 lol..
Disc Golf – This sport truly… saved my life. In my 30s and 40s I would spend most of my time behind a desk programming and unfortunately it took a toll on my health due to massive weight gain. One day I went out to get the mail and I couldn’t even make it to the mail box without being out of breath. Long story short, thanks to disc golf I lost an incredible amount of weight without any medication or surgery. I will blog about my weight loss journey at some point on this site.
I’m oh so lucky to be married to Kristine (Henderson), the most beautiful and sweetest person I have ever met. As I sit and write this, we have been together for 40 years. She is truly the love of my life. We have 3 children and 4 grand children. Our oldest child is our daughter Teresa. She is happily married and has 2 boys of her own. Wyatt and Walker. Our 2nd child is our son Michael. Michael is happily married. Our 3rd and youngest of our children is Rachael. She is happily married and has 2 children of her own. William and Olive. All 3 of my children are highly educated and successful in their various passions of work. There is no doubt the greatest accomplishments of my life are my 3 children. It’s an amazing feeling to know the world is a better place because of your children.
However, if I could go back in time and give my younger self as a Father some advice, I would tell him “Don’t let your ambitions in life stop you from making your children your most cherished priority.“
