I coded this game back in 2008-2009. To this day it was the most expensive game to develop (I hired a professional graphics designer and music composer) and also the longest I ever spent developing a game. I really wanted this game to be polished and professional looking. I had just completed PlayMGE for BlitzMax and I wanted something to showcase what MGE could do.
I was so engrossed in making the game look good that at some point I lost sight on making the game fun to play. Don’t get me wrong, it makes a great initial impression. Clicking all over the place on the Holiday graphics, seeing all the animation, playing the mini games, etc, is very rewarding…. at first. But unfortunately the excitement wares off fairly quickly and the excessive “clixing” becomes an exercise in redundancy. I always wanted to port this game to Flash, I think it would have found it’s appropriate audience there.
But overall I am VERY proud of this game. The game was ported to the Nintendo Wii by JV Games and released on the WiiWare download platform. So cool to have one of my games on the Wii!
