So 2024 was a roller coaster ride for sure. But to be honest, I wouldn’t expect anything less from my ride of life. I had several goals planned and sadly, most of them did not come to fruition. Let’s recap some goals and check out their status:
Health Update: So in October 2024 I finally had my hernia surgery. Recovery started out ok. During my post op they discovered my blood pressure was sky high. So during my recovery I started tracking my nutrients because I typically eat carnivore and omad (one meal a day). I found out I was getting very little potassium and a lot of salt, so I backed off the salt a bit and started taking potassium supplements. A few weeks later I’m having some crazy heart arrythmias. I mean my heart is just all out of whack. yah.. I’m freaking out a bit, but it’s not bad enough to go to the ER because I’m not fainting, no pain, etc. My wife thinks it’s happening due to taking the potassium. I’m guessing it has to be one of two things. The newly installed mesh messing with my vagus nerve or like the wife said, the potassium supplement. I back off the potassium supplement and make a decision to be a bit more active and just see what happens. I find out when I’m pushing myself physically I feel pretty good, the arrythmias tend to be not as noticeable. I start to feel better and play a couple of disc golf tournaments. I’ve been taking some magnesium glycinate supplements the past few weeks. I’m happy to report my arrythmias are back to “normal” which is nice. lol.. I just don’t really know if it was my vagus getting used to the mesh, maybe it was too much potassium (I was under the daily recommended dose) or perhaps it’s the magnesium, who knows. I do know if it starts up again I’m going in for a full check up. ugh.. I hate doing all those heart tests. I also decided to continue my tradition of not taking any medication for my anxiety, heart problems, etc. My overall stress level has come down dramatically. My blood pressure is doing much better! The conclusion is I just need to keep moving and grooving. So I’m continuing to be more physical, getting back up to where I was before my surgery. Playing disc golf several times a week, working out in some capacity every day, light weight lifting, etc. “A body in motion tends to want to stay in motion.” 😉
Project Swansong: Still only publicly released on 1 platform, where I’m guessing sales have finally tapered off and slowing down. I was hoping to release it on several platforms but Google changed some of their developer settings/requirements which expose a bit more of my identity than I’m comfortable so I’m currently in a holding pattern until that gets resolved.
Home Recording Studio: Yah… this one took a hard stop. Since my surgery in October 2024 I haven’t worked on any of my music except for keeping the vocal and drum chops going by doing daily exercises. I have rough drafts of all the tracks ready to go, just need to organize some of life’s other puzzle pieces and then start working on this. My new goal to get some music finished is late 2025.
Disc Golf: For better or worse I have decided to make disc golf my primary goal in 2025. I plan on playing in several big tournaments across the country. I want to test myself and see what I am capable of. I ended up being globally ranked 73rd in my age group which is a bit short of my top 50 goal. Of course I was playing with 2 hernias through most of 2023 and 2024 but with that 100% healed, I actually think as I’m writing this post, I’m playing the best disc golf of my life. Let’s see where this goes. 🙂
Fishing: Easily my life’s biggest mystery. How can I enjoy something so much but continue to put so little time into it? Well, I’m hoping to finally correct that by starting up my own Youtube channel. lol.. Actuallyh I’ve already started it. 🙂 Not sure how often I’ll put up content, but I want to document my fishing adventures. Maybe someday I’ll be brave enough to add the link to the channel here on my blog. Some day. 😉
Welp.. that’s all for this update. If you’re reading this, I would like to thank you for taking an interest in what this old man rambles on about. It surprises me how many people visit my blog each day! I’ll try to be a bit more active, but not going to lie, the last 3-4 months was quite the ride. 😉
